Bill Parks Memorial Volunteer Program

We need your help!

Volunteers are vital to the daily operation of the Sanctuary by providing information to visitors about membership, programs, trails, natural history, etc.

Hawk Mountain is fortunate to have more than 200 volunteers who assist with education programs and day-to-day operations at the Sanctuary, but the need for more volunteers is ever-present. Become a part of the dedicated corps that keeps the first refuge for birds of prey running as a world-class organization.

Volunteers receive invitations to social events and field trips, four issues of VOL NEWS, special discounts, and the satisfaction of furthering the mission of an internationally recognized wildlife refuge.

Become a VOL today!

Vol /Vōl/ noun  pl. Vols: A select and dedicated Hawk Mountain Sanctuary volunteer - enthusiastic, helpful, and industrious with no particular age, sex, color or size, yet a person with environmental concern.

The name is derived from the words volunteer and vole. While volunteer needs no explanation, a vole (red-backed) is an energetic, small mammal found throughout the Sanctuary. It is regarded with much curiosity and admiration as it scampers among the rocks of the Lookouts. It is swift and efficient in its toil.

To become a volunteer, please contact Tammy Jandrasitz at 610-756-6000 x215.
