Hawk Mountain Educator Dan Jenkins Honored with PA Cyber Polytechnic Partner of the Year Award
Posted on June 18, 2026 in Education
Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is proud to announce that Educator & Raptor Care Specialist Dan Jenkins has been named the 2026 Polytechnic Partner of the Year by the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School (PA Cyber).
The award recognizes an individual or organization that demonstrates exceptional support of PA Cyber's Polytechnic Academy, a program focused on helping students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage curiosity and creativity.
According to PA Cyber, the Partner of the Year award honors a partner who "relentlessly supports PA Cyber in its pursuit of polytechnic knowledge, skills, and expertise to share with students," and who consistently goes above and beyond to assist and support both students and staff.
Jenkins has worked closely with PA Cyber through educational programming at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences that connect students with raptor conservation, ecology, and environmental science. His enthusiasm for education and commitment to inspiring the next generation of conservationists has made him a valued partner in PA Cyber's polytechnic initiatives.
The PA Cyber Polytechnic Academy was established during the 2019–2020 school year to help students discover how curiosity, imagination, and interdisciplinary collaboration can strengthen their technical skills. Award recipients are selected through a statewide nomination process in which PA Cyber staff identify individuals and organizations that exemplify the spirit and goals of polytechnic education.
Jenkins expressed his appreciation: "I'm honored to receive this award and sincerely grateful for the recognition. I never expected it. I do this work because I care deeply about it and enjoy being part of something meaningful."
At Hawk Mountain, Jenkins serves as both an educator and raptor care specialist, helping visitors and students connect with birds of prey through educational programs, live raptor presentations, and hands-on learning experiences. His work supports Hawk Mountain's mission to conserve birds of prey worldwide by fostering an appreciation for science, nature, and conservation among learners of all ages.
"We are thrilled to see Dan recognized for his dedication to environmental education," said Hawk Mountain President Sean Grace. "His passion for connecting people with wildlife and creating meaningful learning experiences has impacted countless students. This award is a testament to the enthusiasm and expertise he brings to every program."
