Family Forest Fun

This event takes place RAIN OR SHINE!
Bring the whole family to the Sanctuary to discover and learn all about local Appalachian flora, fauna, and more at a variety of stations in and around the Visitor Center and Native Habitat Garden. There will also be an interactive live musical program by local musician, Dave Kline.
Participants who turn in their completed station passport will be entered to win a prize pack!
This event is ADA accessible.

Meet some of our avian ambassadors
- Animal Tracks in the Visitor Center
Learn to identify the tracks left behind by local forest animals.
- Migration Station in the Visitor Center
Marvel at the magic and mystery of migration!
- Tree Identification in the Information Pavilion
Discover how to identify common trees of the Appalachian forest.
- Naturalists in the Native Habitat Garden
Chat with a Hawk Mountain naturalist about the plants and animals living in the garden and pond.
10:30 AM & 1:30 PM:
- Raptors Up Close in the Amphitheater
Meet some of our avian ambassadors and learn about what makes a raptor!
12:00 PM:
- Mountain Folk Music for Kids in the Amphitheater
Join local musician Dave Kline for interactive immersion into the culture of Appalachian folk music and lore related to the great outdoors.
