Congressman Matt Cartwright spent some time learning about Hawk Mountain, its raptor conservation mission, and its programs in scientific research, training and education during a recent visit to the Sanctuary on Saturday, June 6.

As part of the visit, Cartwright and his senior economic development specialist toured the Acopian Center for Conservation Learning, Hawk Mountain's scientific research headquarters and training facility. Here he learned about the Sanctuary's local to global programs in raptor research and was able to meet the spring trainees. Next stop was the Sanctuary's public facility, the Hawk Mountain Visitor Center and trail system where he learned about the progress on the upcoming Accessible Trail to the nearby South Lookout and caught part of Hawk Mountain's signature weekend program, Raptors up Close.
