The Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura) is the most common dove in North America. Often, it is too large for feeders and instead perches on a nearby branch, choosing to pick seeds off the ground as it pleases.

This one was found perched near the Hawk Mountain feeders, puffing out its feathers to insultate itself and stay warm.
