Eastern Tiger Swallowtail perched upon a flower

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) have been sighted at Hawk Mountain. Named for its black “tiger stripes” on its bright yellow wings, this butterfly is easy to identify. While the male Eastern Tiger Swallowtail always appears this way, females may be yellow or black. They can grow to have a wingspan as large as 5.5 inches.
