Sol is Executive Director of the Berks Business Education Coalition, a group that promotes business support for education, and he also serves on the board of the World Affairs Council of Greater Reading and the Schuylkill Valley Community Library and previously served on the board of United Way of Berks County.

Sol previously served more than 20 years as superintendent for two Pennsylvania school districts, spent time as a teacher and administrator for Baltimore City Public Schools, and served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Micronesia.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading 20th Century American history and likes to spend his days gardening, traveling, and sharing his Pennsylvania Dutch heritage with, as he says, unsuspecting, captive listeners.
