$200 ticket includes open bar and hor's d'oeuvres, live bird displays, live music, expansive silent auction, live auction, and sit-down dinner with a presentation. With an impressive venue, great views, top-choice entrées and complimentary wine, this Gala guarantees fun while fundraising!  ALL proceeds support the Hawk Mountain conservation mission.

Gala Presenter: Minturn Wright III

A life-long birder and conservationist, Minturn Wright III served in the US Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning stateside, Wright graduated from Yale, earned his law degree from Pennsylvania Law School and joined the second-largest law firm in Philadelphia, Dechert, Price & Rhoads, where he remained until his retirement. 

In 1958, Wright joined the board at the Academy of Arts & Sciences in Philadelphia, dedicating more than 50 years to this organization. He joined the Hawk Mountain board in 1983, served as chairman from 1992 to 1997, and helped to grow the Sanctuary's science and training programs as well as the global mission. 

Wright is a passionate birder and spent decades traveling the world to add new species to his life list, which numbers 5,880. He, along with former HM board member Frank Gill, authored on behalf of the Ornithological Congress the wilde popular, Birds of the World: Recommended English Names.

Come meet the new Hawk Mountain president, Geri Unger!

Following an extensive national search, Geri E. Unger was named the new president of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary and assumed the position on Jan 3, 2017. Bringing more than 25 years of experience in conservation and environmental science and education to the job, Unger most recently served as the executive director for the Society for Conservation Biology in Washington, D.C.

The Lehigh Valley Zoo (and here, their African Penguin) provide fun and educational 'entertainment,' showing up to 5 birds from around the world during the cocktail hour.

There are many ways to support the Benefit for Birds and get your company name in front of thousands of Hawk Mountain members. Sponsors connect with the Hawk Mountain community, including 9,000 eUpdate members and more than 30,000 Facebook fans. Each sponsor receives a banner ad on the Hawk Mountain website along with other perks.
