Shane Mengel joins Sanctuary board

The board of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, the world’s oldest and largest, member-support raptor conservation organization, has elected Shane Mengel to a four-year term on its board of directors. A resident of the Los Angeles area, Mengel hails from Berks County, has a life-long passion for the outdoors, and looks forward to the chance to travel east more frequently.

Mengel is a portfolio manager in the Tradable Credit Group of Ares Management, where he previously served as co-head of research and as a senior analyst. He also is a member of the Tradable Credit Group's Distressed/Special Situations Funds Investment Committee. Prior to working at Ares, Mengel was employed as manager of acquisitions at DeCrane Aircraft Holdings, Inc., and as a senior associate at Price Waterhouse LLP.

A graduate of Villanova University, Mengel also serves on the board of the Ruffed Grouse Society and is a member of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Heal the Bay, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Milken Institute, the Surfrider Foundation, Trout Unlimited, and the Villanova University Alumni Interview Program. He resides in Manhatten Beach, CA, with his wife and daughter.
