Hawk Mountain rejoins global Giving Tuesday Movement as official partner

Help the Sanctuary #HelptheHawks by giving to their Annual Fund campaign

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary will participate in the 2017 Giving Tuesday movement, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide. This is the second year the Sanctuary is participating. The Hawk Mountain campaign entitled #HelptheHawks encourages all supporters to donate a monetary gift to the organization's Annual Fund.

Giving Tuesday is held annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events such as Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. The movement kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and organizations.

The #HelptheHawks campaign is in place to remind supporters of the Sanctuary's main mission: protecting birds of prey globally. Hawk Mountain has chosen specifically to promote its Annual Fund, which supports many aspects of the Sanctuary such as conservation research, education, and visitor services.

This year’s Annual Fund focuses on continuing the Sanctuary’s many significant conservation successes, which in 2017 included launching an international distance learning program, opening an exhibit of endangered vulture silhouettes, expanding raptor research on four continents, launching a new study of the northern goshawk, and training eight conservation science trainees, three summer field experience interns, and five education interns.

"The Annual Fund ensures that we can continue the very important work of our mission 365 days a year," says Dr. Keith Bildstein, Director of Conservation Science and Interim President of Hawk Mountain.

Hawk Mountain can accept donations through their website at or via a mailed-in check. For more information, visit or contact Hawk Mountain Sanctuary at 610-756-6961.

About #GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday is a movement to celebrate and provide incentives to give—the 2016 iteration will be held on November 29, 2016. This effort harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners—nonprofits, businesses and corporations as well as families and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. #GivingTuesday inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they celebrate and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a global moment dedicated to giving around the world.
