Join us for the next Premium Program in the Stay at Home Speaker Series! This webinar will be a unique opportunity to hear directly from HMS Board Member Holly Merker.

Hoping to learn more about how to find birds, get closer to them, and strategies in bird ID? This program is for you!

Getting down to the basics of birding helps simplify what can seem overwhelming at times. In this program we'll break down the basic skills of birdwatching to enhance your experience in the field, and provide a foundation to support your skills as an observer. We will cover strategies and tips for observing and listening, as well as birding ethics and stewardship.

Holly Merker is a professional birding guide and environmental educator living in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. She has been teaching people the art of bird identification by sight, ear, and habitat, for the last two decades. Co-owner of the ID Boot Camp, and Ornitherapy, with ID Guide author Richard Crossley, Holly is also an instructor and session director for National Audubon’s Hog Island Camp in Maine, and has worked with teen birders instructing and direction the ABA’s Camp Avocet.  In addition, Holly serves as a mentor for the HMS Young Birders group, and a Co-founder and the Co-Chair of the Frontiers in Ornithology Symposium. Holly is passionate about hawkwatching, and has been a volunteer hawk counter for Hawk Mountain Sanctuary since 2013.
