Fred Beste elected chair of Hawk Mountain board

The board of directors has elected Lehigh-Valley venture capitalist Fred Beste III as chairman of the board at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. Beste has served the Sanctuary as a board member for the past 12 years, including terms as vice president, and has been a Hawk Mountain member for more than 30 years.

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is the world’s first refuge for birds of prey and an international center for raptor conservation. Operated by the non-profit Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association, it is the oldest and largest, member-supported raptor conservation organization in the world.

Beste is the President and CEO of the General Partners of Mid-Atlantic Venture Funds and chairman of the board of Ben Franklin Technology Partners, a subsidiary of Lehigh University. He is a also a member and former vice president of the board of The Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority and the 2001 recipient of the Blair L. Thompson Memorial Award for career achievement in venture capital.

Fred earned his B.A. in economics from Stetson University and resides with his wife Polly in a pre-Revolution-era stone farmhouse just outside of Wind Gap, PA.
