Dr. Solomon Lausch joins board

Long-time educator will help to connect with schools

Dr. Solomon Lausch, Executive Director of the Berks Business Education Coalition, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Hawk Mountain board of directors where he will serve on the education and development and communication committees. Lausch has a Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of Maryland, a master’s in special education from Loyola College, and a bachelor’s in secondary education from Millersville State College.

Dr. Lausch brings a wealth of experience in the public school sector, serving for more than 20 years as superintendent in two Pennsylvania school districts.  In his work at the Berks Business Education Coalition, he most recently organized and initiated a program to involve 4,500 ninth and tenth grade students for a day of interaction with business, focusing on the factors that employers consider important when evaluating a prospective candidate for employment.

Dr. Lausch also serves on the boards of the United Way of Berks County and the Schuylkill Valley Community Library.

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is an international center for raptor conservation, and one of the most famous places in northeastern North America to watch the autumn migration of birds of prey. The Association maintains a 2,500-acre natural area north of Reading that welcomes an average 65,000 visitors annually, and operates global programs in raptor conservation science, education and training.
