A male baltimore oriole was seen at the eastern edge of the sanctuary on Hawk Mountain Road.

There were many cat birds and oven birds around the forest.

A male barred owl was heard hooting at night on Sky Line Trail.

A 2 foot long black rat snake was seen under the metal roofing in a feild at the Acopian Center.   

great crested flycatcher was heard calling behind the Visitor Center. 

A broad winged hawk was heard calling near the Common Room. 

April 28, 2011

An indigo bunting, 2 purple finches, 2 rosebrested grosbeaks, 2 towhees, 2 red bellied woodpeckers, 2 goldfinches, grey squirrel, cardinal, ruby thoated hummingbird and a brown headed cowbird were all seen at the Vsitor Center feeder.   

There was green frog at the pond.

A large black bear was spotted in Eckville.

black rat snake was spotted in tree on North Lookout Trail between the River of Rocks & Bald Lookout.

A red breasted nuthatch was at the feeder.

rose breasted grosbeak and a grey catbird were spotted at Visitor Center Feeder.

There were lots of oven birds on the road.

There was a garter snake between Laurenwood Niche and South lookout.

A male ruby throated hummingbird was seen at the Visitor Center feeder.

pileated woodpecker, barred owl, and chipping sparrows were heard near the River of Rocks .
