Learning at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary
Since 1934, Hawk Mountain has introduced people of all ages to the phenomenon of hawk migration and the Appalachian region. Today, both raptors and Appalachian ecosystems continue to be a central component of education programs. Hawk Mountain also believes our own research should be accessible and meaningful to the public. To that end, Hawk Mountain science is integrated into program content, activities, and educational resources.
Although primarily an explore-on-your-own outdoor area, Hawk Mountain educators offer year-round programs for those groups or individuals who wish to learn more about a specific topic or prefer the aid of a naturalist. Weekend programs in spring & autumn for general public
Special walks, talks and other programs that help you learn more about the natural phenomena, the Mountain or the migration.
Credit-based ornithology courses through Cedar Crest College, which also are open to Members and others for a non-credit fee.
Residential Conservation Science Internships, including summer field experiences for undergraduates and leadership positions for young professionals already established in the field.
