Tired of being cooped up in the cold? Visit Hawk Mountain and learn more about winter wildlife, enjoy a live raptor program, take part in a children's activity or join us for a winter walk. Complimentary hot chocolate and bird friendly coffee will be served, and a naturalist will be on hand to help identify winter birds at our bird feeder windows.

Schedule:
11 am--Live raptor program
See one or more of our resident live hawks or owls

11-3 pm--Bird feeder interpretation
Learn how to identify common winter birds. Right now we're seeing woodpeckers, finches, juncos and most recently, the pine siskin.

Noon-2 pm--Kids Crafts

11-3--Self-Guided Outdoor Activities
Geo-caching Whether you’re a pro or completely new, we will set you up for fun. Work alone or as a group, and use a GPS to complete a course. Trail fee is required and allows you to explore the rest of the Sanctuary after the program. If possible, bring your own hand-held GPS, otherwise a limited number of units will be available. Dress in warm layers, bring digital camera or camera phone, pencil or pen, and Yak Trax or shoes with good grip as trails have been icy.

Scavenger Hunt: Kids and Adult versions available to serve all ages. Trail fee applies but allows you to explore the Sanctuary trails and overlooks. Dress in warm layers, bring digital camera or camera phone, pencil or pen, and Yak Trax or shoes with good grip as trails have been icy.

 2 pm--Raptors Up Close!

Complimentary Hot Chocolate and Bird-friendly Coffee
Hazardous weather/travel conditions will cancel event.
