Off to a Flying Start! | Migration Kick-Off Event

Join us for a day celebrating the wonders of migration!

9am – Guided Bird Walk, Join a Hawk Mountain naturalist in search of songbirds and raptors.  (trail fee applies to non-members)

10am - 12pm - Education Building Open House; learn more about our distance education program and meet wildlife artist Tom Horn

11am-2pm - Naturalist in the Garden; learn about native plants that will attract wildlife to your yard

11am & 2pm - Raptors Up Close; see live birds of prey and learn what puts these winged predators at the top of the nature's food chain

11am – 2pm – Kids Activities

12pm - Mountain Raffle Drawing 

12:30pm - Raptor Identification with Dr. Laurie Goodrich – learn how to identify 16 species of raptors and learn why they concentrate at Hawk Mountain, followed by an optional walk to South Lookout to scan for early migrants (trail fee applies to non-members)

1pm-3pm - Book Signing with Dr. Keith L. Bildstein - Get your copy of Raptors: the curious nature of diurnal birds of prey personally signed by the author! Keith will also be available to answer any questions about raptors. 

10am – 3pm

  • Meet with optics specialists from Swarovski, Zeiss, and Opticron to test and learn about a variety of their products. Discounts will be available on most products! 
  • Feeder Interpretation; a Hawk Mountain Naturalist will identify common birds at our feeder station.
  • "Locations" art show by former Hawk Mountain resident artist Bryan Fellenbaum.
  • Membership Info Table; learn about the many ways you can help support Hawk Mountain
