LIVE ITEM No 1: Gourmet Dinner for Eight at Hawk Mountain

Enjoy an incredible, multi-course gourmet dining experience for eight by renowned chef Joe Mattera, owner and proprietor of The Brickhouse Grill, Orwigsburg, and served at once of our facilities at Hawk Mountain. All food and drink selections will be reviewed beforehand and dinner will be served at a mutally-beneficial date. An incredible Sanctuary experience!

LIVE ITEM No 2: Tom Horn Masterpiece

Donated by world champion carver Tom Horn, this piece has been designed exclusively for the benefit and is a house wren, to be unveiled for the first time at the evening's event—look for it on display with live items.

Horn’s pieces take months to craft and are truly lifelike representations. Pictured is Tom holding the red-tailed hawk he was commissioned to carve for the Hawk Mountain Education Building.

You and five guests will spend an evening with Scott Weidensaul and his saw-whet owl research crew as they catch, band, and release migrating northern saw-whet owls, the smallest owl in the East, and the focus of 20 years of research.

This excursion will be scheduled with the high bidder and Scott on a mutually-beneficial evening between early October and mid- to late-November 2016 and is donated by Scott Weidensaul.

Enjoy a 2-night stay for two in Washington, DC, in the Capitol Hill home of Deborah Edge, the granddaughter of Hawk Mountain founder Rosalie Edge, and her husband Neal Mann on a mutually agreeable weekend. Your visit will include a Saturday night dinner with Deb and Neal served using Rosalie's fine china and silver and surrounded by Rosalie Edge photographs and memorabilia, a Sunday morning breakfast with Deb and Neal's famous waffles, and the general hospitality of the home.

Other meals will be discussed and the Edge-Mann home is conveniently located within walking distance of the Capitol, the Mall and museums, the Eastern Market, Union Station, and the Metro.

Includes two nights lodging for two on a mutually agreeable weekend with dinner Saturday night and waffle breakfast Sunday, and general hospitality of the home OR two nights on mutually-agreeable weekdays. Expires June 1, 2017.

Donated by Taylor Backes Studio co-founders and internationally-acclaimed glass artists Will Dexter and Karla Trinkley, this unique handblown glass bowl is highly collectible as well as a one-of-a-kind piece of useful art that is sure to become a conversation piece for the winning bidder. Using their own style and collaborating with other glass artists to produce distinctive innovative work, Taylor Backes Studio has exhibited their pieces both nationally and internationally.

Their work is in the permanent collections of The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The American Craft Museum, The Corning Museum of Glass, and the Smithsonian Institute. In addition, they have collaborated on projects such as Theatre Solutions in Quakertown, PA, to develop mezzanine light lenses and glass light covers for aisle seats in the Kodak Theatre, home to the Academy Awards.

You and up to five of your friends will enjoy an amazing morning with naturalist, author and board member Scott Weidensaul to see and learn about hummingbirds, up close and personal, during a personal hummingbird banding demonstration. Perhaps one of our most unique items on the block: a one-of-a-kind, decorative ceiling donated by A. Thayer Smith III, Principal of Felbar Ornamental, one of the nation's leading architectural plaster firms, and with projects ranging from the finest of homes to Carnegie Hall, to Tavern on the Green, to the White House. With roots dating back to the 1890s, Felbar creates handmade plaster ceilings using time-honored techniques, coupled with a contemporary hybrid designs to match today's living.

This donated piece is an "Old World" ceiling medallion with a contemporary feel to fit a large room. The 5'2" central medallion is surrounded by an elliptical diamond and pearl border molding. The medallion is originally sculpted in clay and hand-cast using the finest plaster in the world and the diamond trim can be scaled to graciously fit any larger space such as a foyer, dining room, grand salon, or library.

The high bidder will receive fabrication and installation of the ceiling with border trim and medallion. Installation is limited to locations within 100-mile radius of Parkesburg, PA, (between West Chester and Lancaster) and can be customized. Medallion is a fixed size but can be customized in size for an additional fee. Installation outside the 100-mile-radius is possible upon request and with an additional cost. Valid through May 2017.

This item allows the high bidder to enjoy a personal and private tour of Central Park with the one who knows its history and hidden spaces best: President of Central Park Conservancy Doug Blonsky. Likely no one is more adept at giving a premiere tour of this New York City oasis, for he spends equal time among the 49 gardeners of the 49 discrete habitat zones as he does with the individuals who have the deepest pockets to help support its ongoing improvement and upkeep. He also brings a deep personal knowledge of the plant and tree species as well as of Central Park's history and growth. 

This tour will be scheduled on a mutually beneficial day and time and the length of the tour will be tailored to the high bidder's interest and abilities. Based on your preferred time of day, a complimentary lunch or dinner will be provided at one of Central Park's fine eateries. An overnight stay at the San Carlos Hotel will round out this package.

We've designed the perfect day at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary for you and a small group and graciously hosted by Todd Bauman: Begin early evening with a late-afternoon guided hike to learn more about the Sanctuary and then return to yard at historic Schaumboch's Tavern for a bonfire-side dinner that is personally sizzled and served by chef Stephen Monteith and accompanied by home-brewed beer made by Hawk Mountain Research Biologist and national award-winning brewmaster David Barber.

Optional complimentary overnight camping will be made available for anyone in your group at the Aspen Cut Campground and the high bidder will discuss his or her BBQ menu, hiking interests, and other guest needs with the host so that your day outdoors is one-of-a-kind experience that caters to your group. What is more fun than young falcons?! You and three guests will join Research Biologist JF Therrien for a summer morning in the field, traveling to local farms to weigh, measure, and band kestrel fledglings before they leave their nestbox. Part of a long-term monitoring project, Hawk Mountain collects data from more than 120 nestboxes within a 25-mile radius of the Sanctuary and each year will attach leg bands to every fledgling. Joining you on your excursion likely will be trainees or other assistants and the date will be held at a mutually beneficial day and time and will include lunch for your group.
