Environmental writer Jim Wright and wildlife photographer Kevin Watson tell the inspiring story of the local but world-famous Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in their Hawk Mountain: the World's first raptor sanctuary, a 128-page, full-color coffee table book.

Retailing at $35, the hardcover book describes Hawk Mountain's dramatic story as a shooting ground turned sanctuary, covers the Sanctuary's natural and human history, and helps people appreciate the riches found in the forest, the view, the tradition, and of course...the migrating hawks, eagles and falcons.

Published by Camino Books, Hawk Mountain includes 140 full-color images by Kevin Watson as well archival photos, a forward by the founder's granddaughter Deborah Edge, and illustrations by local artist Fred Wetzel. All elements combine to celebrate Hawk Mountain Sanctuary as the birthplace of raptor conservation and one of the single greatest private conservation success stories of our time.

An average 60,000 people visit Hawk Mountain Sanctuary each year to experience the vast and exhilarating views from Hawk Mountain's North Lookout, the front of hawk-migration research and home to the world's first and longest migration watch site. By far the most famous and recognized hawk observation point, an average 19,000 raptors migrate past Hawk Mountain each autumn on their way to southern wintering grounds.

Autographed copies of Hawk Mountain are available for purchase at the Hawk Mountain Visitor Center or online at www.hawkmountain.org, and a large portion of each sale directly benefits Hawk Mountain conservation programs. For more information, please call 610-756-6961 or visit www.hawkmountain.org.
