2010 Events We are continuing to add to our list of 2010 Events. Please return for updates
Spring Equinox Saturday, March 20 11 am - 3 pm This full-day program is a great excuse to head outdoors and embrace the arrival of spring. Event features free trail admission for children ages 12 and under, complimentary hot chocolate and shade-grown coffee, wildlife art display by Dave Hughes, and booksigning by children's book author Kathy Miller in addition to a vareity of activities focused on spring wildlife. Trail fees do apply for adults ($5) and seniors ($4).
DAY'S SCHEDULE: 11 am: Live Raptor Program
Noon: Signs of Spring Scramble Limited to first 25 who sign up that day. Trail fee applies for adults and seniors. Join volunteer naturalist Dave Hughes on a guided hike through the Hawk Mountain forest to identify the various signs of spring that are beginning to emerge on the Mountain. Sign up at bookstore counter on the day of the event or call 610-756-6961 to register in advance.
1 pm: Chippy Chipmunk takes the Big Screen! The emergence of chipmunks is a sure sign that spring is here. Join Kathy Miller, author of the new children's book Chippy Chipmunk for a fun-filled program using close-up images, sounds and hands-on activities to learn more about this common mammal of the Hawk Mountain forest.
2 pm: Live Raptor Program
11 am-3 pm: Spring Chipmunk Count Head outdoors to enjoy the Hawk Mountain trails and scenic views while you take part in a wildlife monitoring project to survey all chipmunk sightings. Record on your trail map where you spot chipmunk activity and report your findings when you return to the Visitor Center. Trail fees apply for adults and seniors.
Spring Migration Watch April 1 - May 15, Daily
Benefit for Birds: Dinner & Silent Auction New venue: Bear Creek Resort, Macungie Cost: $125 ticket includes complimentary ski lift to watch for spring migrants (binoculars provided), selection of interesting art and other items in silent auction, and full buffet dinner. Spring Warbler Walks Sunday, May 2 Friday, May 7 Saturday, May 8 Cost $10; Members $5 All Warbler Walks held 7 am - 10 am Held rain or shine. Ages 12 and up. Join a Hawk Mountain naturalist on a guided walk in pursuit of elusive wood warblers and other Neotopical migrants. Bring binoculars and field guides. This program fills very fast, so register early. Native Plant Sale Sat & Sun, May 15-16 Both days, 10 am - 4 pm Visitor Center Learn more about native plant species and how to use them in your home landscape. Native wildflowers, vines, shrubs, ferns and trees will be for sale, all to benefit Hawk Mountain. This sale includes a strong educational component and will include tours of the native plant garden, free information and lots of helpful advice from skilled volunteers and master gardeners.

Autumn Hawkwatch August 15 - December 15, Daily
Golden Eagle Saturday Saturday, November 6 Programs held 10 am, Noon and 2 pm See North America's largest prediatory bird, the impressive Golden Eagle...and other raptors...during a special live raptor educational program by our friends at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. This event takes place during the peak of Golden Eagle migration, so you have an opportunitity to see one up close, and then watch for a migrating eagle from the Lookouts. This program replaces Raptors Up Close
